At least three people, who were among lakhs of enthusiasts attending an airshow of the Indian Air Force (IAF) at the Marina Beach in Chennai have died, officials said on Sunday. The deceased were identified as 48-year-old Srinivasan, Karthikeyan (34) and John Babu (56).

In another incident, 56-year-old D. John from Korukkupet, who had come with his wife and nephew, collapsed near the Parthasarathy arch on Kamarajar Salai. Alongside him, another man, Srinivasan from Perungalathur, also fainted. Both were rushed to the Government Omandurar Multispeciality Hospital, but unfortunately, their lives could not be saved.

The IAF conducted a full dress rehearsal at the airshow on Friday in coordination with the Tambaram unit of the IAF. It is the third time the IAF conducted its airshow outside the national capital and the first time in South India.
