Don't get it twisted, the Minnesota Golden Gophers staged a fourth-quarter comeback to upset No. 11 USC 24-17 Saturday night in Minneapolis. But it wasn't without some puzzling decisions over the course of the 60-minute battle.

The Gophers held the top passing offense in the Big Ten to 5.3 yards per pass and intercepted Trojans quarterback Miller Moss twice, including Perich’s pick to seal the victory. Robinson also recovered a fumble, helping Minnesota win the turnover battle 3-1.

Quarterback Max Brosmer, who tallied three rushing touchdowns and the go-ahead score with 56 seconds remaining, was never a part of a field storming during his five years at FCS-level New Hampshire. After Perich’s pick, Brosmer took a knee to run out the final seven seconds of the upset as an eight-point underdog.

Minnesota's 24-17 win over No. 11 ranked USC was its first home victory over a ranked opponent since 2021 against Wisconsin and only its third since P.J. Fleck took over the program in 2017.
